I tailor-make a program for you. If you want to improve your health, your body, your energy, your fitness, your endurance, your strength, your eating or whatever it might be, I start with you where you are. At this transition time in your life, there are probably areas that have been neglected and it’s not too late to come back into balance and include more aspects of you.
I teach you the tools that are most appropriate for where you want to focus, so your time is well spent. Since I have training in fitness coaching by phone, lifestyle fitness coaching, personal training, Intuitive Eating, and the Alexander Technique, I am qualified to work with you in many areas and in a variety of ways.
I came to this area of work as I was nearing perimenopause and am now 59. So my focus has been primarily on the issues of 40 year old women and beyond as I am living through that time myself. It’s important to me to continue to study, train and keep up with the latest research and techniques so I evolve as well.
Some of my clients start with the exercise or lifestyle activity part and then address eating. Others do the reverse. I structure the program specifically for each individual and their needs.
I, also, believe in taking little steps so you can be successful and build on success. In my experience, if your expectations are too big and you try to take on too much at once you will probably not meet your goals because it’s just too much so I help you set realistic goals.
However, I won’t hold you back if you want to take giant steps. I believe there is learning in any approach you take and that experimenting is invaluable to learn and discover what works best for you.
You probably already have much wisdom about yourself and how you operate. I help you add to your wisdom by supporting, coaching, teaching and recording and pointing out your own insights into yourself.

It’s so important to feel support and guidance from someone who is not going to judge you. One of the qualities that my clients most describe about me is that I’m nonjudgmental. When you are ready to take action in an area that has been challenging for you, you want someone who is not going to overreact to what you say or do or don’t do, while at the same time holding that space of belief in you.
I encourage you to adopt an attitude of observation and noticing and curiosity to see what you learn about yourself, your habits, your beliefs and your behaviors. This gives you lots of information and insight into what works and what is getting in your way from having the health, body and energy that you want. It takes practice to observe without judgment but this is an invaluable skill to develop in your life.
When you judge yourself you put a wall up to any insight or movement forward. It’s a dead-end and leads to frustration, bitterness, disappointment or anger.
I work with you to help you get clear on what it is you really want and why as you transition into menopause. Understanding WHY you want to exercise more, eat more mindfully, lose that belly fat, get stronger, feel sexy again or get control in your life is important to help you stick with your intentions.
When my clients are having trouble meeting their goals we often will go back to why they wanted to do this in the first place. What was important to them at the time and is it still important?
This getting back to basic values is often all it takes to get someone back on track. I believe in helping you work towards the goals that you value, not the goals someone else thinks you should be working on.

I believe in giving my clients information as well as expert guidance and coaching. This empowers you to more fully participate in making choices that are right for you and your body. It’s important to me to always learn new ways to help you reach greater success. This is why I also use cutting edge coaching and self-empowerment tools.
I use a small activity monitor which gives you objective information about your activity level. This is not high tech so don’t be intimidated by the thought of a monitor. And since my program is so individualized what is right for one person might not be right for another so not everyone uses all the tools.
If you have a goal of weight loss or more energy or more stamina, for example, then knowing how much you are moving each day is significant. If you could know just how much to move each day, how much is enough, when you’ve met your goal, wouldn’t that feel good and give you confidence?
People like to meet their goals. They feel good when they do, and with the monitors we use you have minute-by-minute objective information. This way you can adjust your activity as the day goes on to meet your goals and feel great about yourself as well as lose weight and feel more energetic.
There are many other approaches that I draw upon depending on what’s right for you. I use the Human Design System and cutting edge energy psychology such as The Emotional Freedom Technique.
Human Design teaches you YOUR correct strategy for living YOUR life. It gives you a map of your strengths and areas of greatest wisdom. It helps you understand where you are vulnerable to outside influences and what to do about that. It can help you understand why you might feel stuck and what to do about it. My clients feel empowered, supported and understood by knowing their Human Design. It also helps me coach you even more specifically according to your decision making strategy, your strengths and your vulnerabilities.
The Emotional Freedom Technique is a simple, easy-to-learn, easy-to-use process of tapping on special stress-relieving points in your body to release limiting beliefs, pain in your body and painful emotions that are stored in your body/mind. You are much more likely to follow through on goals or steps you have set if you are accountable to someone other than yourself.
Actually, you are at least 2200% more likely to stick with an exercise program when you are accountable to someone else. At Virginia Polytechnic Institute, they did a study in which they took two groups of people starting a walking program. One group got a weekly phone call asking how their walking was going and one group did not get a call.
By the end of 24 weeks, only 2% of the people who did NOT get a call were still walking compared with 45% of the people who did get a call. 90% of my clients are still exercising after 24 weeks because my work is much more than just a call asking how your walking is going.
I help you get clear on what you want for yourself in this specific time of your life, transitioning into menopause, and then help you determine the steps to get you there. Whether you take baby steps or big steps will be up to you, but I’ll help you learn to set realistic, manageable goals each week. That is a skill that many people don’t have and it’s a learnable skill.
I help you cut through the myths and learn to set goals that you can achieve with a little effort and come back the next week feeling good about yourself. My approach is to help you build some consistency along with flexibility because life isn’t the same every week. So we need to learn to stay true to our goals but modify them realistically each and every week.

I teach you ways to eat naturally, enjoy your food and find your natural body weight and remind you of what your body already knows.
Using a proven approach often called Intuitive Eating or Mindful Eating or Conscious Eating, I help you get back in touch with your body, with your natural signals of hunger and fullness just like you had when you were a baby.
These natural inborn signals have often been overridden by the many rules, beliefs, feelings and attitudes you have about eating. They mostly come from the Diet Mentality which has bombarded you since you were very young.
We also have lots of misinformation about how our bodies work and how they like to be fueled. And the third area that interferes with eating as naturally as you did when you were a baby is emotional eating, a big one for most women who don’t like where their bodies are.
At this point in your life you probably have many years of habits around eating and are aware of some of those habits that aren’t serving you anymore.
In my experience and from the research, diets only work, for the long term, 5% of the time at the most. You have probably been on at least one diet in your life and most likely many more than that. If you didn’t lose weight or keep the weight off after stopping the diet then I want you to know that you didn’t fail. The diet failed you.
In my work we don’t make any foods wrong. We don’t demonize foods. There are no bad foods (unless you’re allergic to it) or bad food groups. One bag of potato chips isn’t wrong, chocolate ice cream, a hot dog, carbohydrates, fats. They are not devils. There are ways to eat what you want and to tweak it to suit your body’s needs for nutrition and fuel.
